KIEV Cheap Joe Morgan Jersey , Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree to introduce a biometric system at its border control from Jan. 1 next year, the presidential press service said Friday.


According to the decree, Ukraine will collect biometric data from foreigners who cross the border in order to strengthen its national security.


Poroshenko also ordered the cabinet to amend the legislation on the registration of non-citizens in Ukraine and revise the list of countries with migration risk.


In particularly, the president asked the government to consider a possibility of including Russia into the list of the states with high migration risk.

While commenting on the possible move, the Russian Foreign Ministry accused Ukraine of intending to build a new "iron curtain" to prevent exchanges between the two countries.


Relations between Kiev and Moscow have soured since 2014 when Crimea joined Russia following a referendum, but Ukraine said the peninsula was illegally annexed by Russia and remains Ukrainian territory.
