The Bengals made a big change to their coaching staff this week by firing defensive coordinator Teryl Austin and giving head coach Marvin Lewis control of the defense for the final seven games of the season.Lewis will call the plays for the first time against the team he worked for when he first gained attention as a head coaching candidate. Lewis was the defensive coordinator for the Ravens from 1996 to 2001 Womens John Brown Jersey , which makes for a nice detail as he returns to doing that job for the first time in nearly two decades. When Lewis was running the defense in Baltimore, there was a lot of quarterback shuffling with the Ravens and his former team is dealing with uncertainty at the position this week. Joe Flacco didn’t practice on Wednesday because of a hip injury, which means Robert Griffin III or Lamar Jackson could wind up starting this weekend. After giving up 2,117 yards and 158 points the last four weeks, Lewis said he’s focused on his team and not who will play quarterback for Baltimore.“Joe Flacco, as we know, is an outstanding quarterback,” Lewis said. “And Lamar is going to be a good, young player in the NFL. We spent a lot of time with Lamar, but right now it’s about us, and that’s important.”The Bengals got a couple of defensive players back on the practice field Wednesday and it will likely be all hands on deck as Lewis tries to find a way to stop the bleeding with the Bengals still very much alive in the playoff race despite their recent defensive shortcomings.Ravens vs. Browns Final: MVP, stock up & stock down It was an ugly offensive showing Womens Hayden Hurst Jersey , and the Ravens failed to score a touchdown for the first time this season. Turnovers, dropped passes and a blocked field goal derailed the Ravens hopes, and they failed to execute throughout regulation. In overtime, Baltimore had multiple opportunities to put the game away and even received some help from the referees. The Browns converted a huge third down with just over a minute remaining to set up a game-winning field goal, securing a 12-9 victory. MVP: N/A Several players performed well, but nobody deserves MVP honors. The Ravens squandered multiple opportunities to earn a victory. Flacco and the offense couldn’t get anything going, and the defense faltered late after being on the field forever. Stock Up Tavon Young - A big interception in the first quarter to set up a Justin Tucker field goal. Young’s first pick of the season, and hopefully not the last. Eric Weddle - The Pro Bowl safety came up with a huge third down sack in the opening quarter, thwarting a potential Browns scoring drive. He was also consistent in stopping the run. Jimmy Smith - Textbook coverage on a deep pass intended for Antonio Callaway early. Smith looked like his normal self in his first game back. Tony Jefferson - For the second week in a row, Jefferson was extremely active. He was quick to break to the ball and made some aggressive defensive plays.Willie Snead IV - Snead continues to be a steadying, underrated weapon in the passing game. He caught five of six targets for 55 yards. Willie Henry - In his first game back from injury, Henry came up with a big sack to prevent a Browns touchdown in the red zone. Anthony Levine Sr. - Two huge pass breakups in the fourth quarter. Second consecutive productive game for Levine. Stock Down Michael Crabtree - Three more ugly drops Authentic Tony Jefferson Jersey , including a potential game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. This is becoming a glaring problem. Joe Flacco -A crucial red zone interception in the second quarter. The pass was deflected, but it may have been picked off anyways. Not a great performance overall. Tim White - White does not appear to be the answer at returner. You simply cannot fumble, regardless of whether or not it was recovered. Offensive line - Flacco had little time to throw, and he was under pressure throughout the game. After the first quarter, the line did not open any holes in the running game, either. Special teams - For the second time this season, Justin Tucker had a field goal attempt blocked. Left three points on the field before halftime. Javorius Allen - A crucial fumble in the third quarter, setting the Browns up in scoring position. Not a good moment for “Buck”. Marty Mornhinweg - Marty did not call his best game, especially compared to last week against the Steelers. Baltimore went pass-heavy when the running game was effective early, and the Browns defense was prepared for whatever the Ravens threw at them. Conversions - Baltimore’s offense went just 4/16 on third downs, an accurate representation of a dismal showing.
